March 26, 2019

On Sunday 24th March 2019 a band of 12 merry penguins ventured north to Nottingham to raid gold, silver and bronze wrapped chocolate eggs from the sherif of Calverton & Bingham. Like Robin Hood, they really hit the target, returning with an impressive hoard of treasure! (8 x 1st, 6 x 2nd & 8 x 3rd). It was wonderful to see some new faces joining us in competition. Karen, Suzi and Alistair proved to be great additions to the team and we all really enjoyed having them there.

There were too many good swims to note them all here, but some highlights were: wins for the mixed medley relay (feat. Jill, Claire, Alistair and Nigel), the women’s medley (feat. Jill, Claire, Jen and Sophie) and FC (feat. Karen, Jen, Sophie and Jill) relays; 2nd place for the mixed freestlye relay (Ian, Alistair, Sophie and Jen) and the men’s freestlye relay (Rob, Mike, Ian and Andrew). We were also delighted to see how the motivation of chocolate affected some swimmers, with Karen going 1 second faster in the relay than in her individual event.
