For 2022 we thought we should, as a club, focus a little more on the open water exploits of our swimmer in order to compliment the numerous successes we have had in the pool recently.
Covid has somewhat hindered the availability of open water events in recent years, but hopefully 2022 will bring a wave of opportunity for those happy to slip into their wetsuit, avoid the after effects of a chlorinated pool and not have to worry about hitting a tumble turn!
Regular updates on our open water activities during the year will be shared via the Facebook page and our club website, so we will be keen to hear from anyone planning or completing any open water swims and pictures, short reports will all be gratefully received.
To start with, given many of you may be currently planning which events to enter for 2022, it would be good to list those here as they may be of interest to others.
Some events already entered include lake swimming in Lithuania, Scilly Isles Swim challenge, Croatia swim, Coniston open water, but if you have entered any other open water events, let us know the details and we can build out a calendar of events being attended by KMSC members.
You may also be aware that Ian Lole is heavily involved with the Henley Swim programme and they have a number of events that may be of interest (https://henleyswim.com) and Ian has confirmed that a 10% discount is available for KMSC members at the Henley events (contact Stuart Nunn for discount code). There is also the Great North Swim (https://greatswim.org) which may be of interest – has anyone signed up for that?
We are also looking to reintroduce the club open water event this summer and will share details as soon as we have them. Ideally this will be a combined swim & social event at a local (ish) venue.
In the meantime please share, via Stuart, the details of any events you have entered or ones which may be of interest to others.
