The World Masters Aquatics Championships were held in Kyusha, Japan from 2nd – 11th August.
Approximately 6000 athletes across swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, diving and open water competed in different cities across Kyusha. The swimming competition was held in Fukuoka, at the Marine Messe pool and Nishi Civic pool. The Marine Messe pool itself had been used a week before for the World Aquatic Championships (which saw a number of world records broken).
Kenilworth Masters were represented by James Wardle with club members Alan Cooper and Suzanne Linton swimming under the banner of Swiss team, Club de Natation. There were some great performances from all three, most notably Suzanne’s bronze in the 50m backstroke, and Suzanne and Alan combining with two other team members for bronze in the mixed medley relay.
